Writing is a privelege, not a birthright. It seems a lot of contemporary authors and writers forget that though a good majority of Americans can read and write, that the written word isn't the basis of communication.

When I write, be it poetry, jokes, or stories, I write in a way that is understandable. Not because I am illiterate, but because I showcase the wirtten word as it is supposed to be showcased: as communication. Mind you, not "the" form of communication, but one whose ancestry reaches back thousands of years. My words are for the meaning, the meaning doesn't inherently come from the words. It is that residue that any great work will leave behind, the inspiration that compels authors to write books, the interest in their books, that I yearn for.

I aim to converse with my audience in a way that is conducive to conversation and understanding.
